As photographers, we're used to hearing that prime lenses are sharper than zoom lenses, and a lot of people would actually prefer to never use zoom lenses for that reason.

Well, as you guys know, one of my favourite lenses for the L Mount is the Panasonic 24-105 F4. I use it A LOT.

I wanted to see whether the images this lens produced were noticeably soft when photographing something small and intricate like a watch face, so once I was approached by Filippo Loreti, I thought this would be a good topic for discussion.

I used the 24-105 on my Panasonic Lumix S5 body, and also the S1 for the demonstrations.

Let me know your thoughts on this - do you think this zoom lens is capable of producing some really nice and tack sharp images?

Do you prefer the convenience of a zoom lens over a prime lens?
